The Haras de Saint Pair’s three year old colt Ampere made an impressive winning debut in the Prix des Orfevres at Longchamp on April 9. The Andre Fabre trained son of Galileo missed the break and was subsequently held up at the rear of the field, however, once in the straight Ampere had little trouble quickening past his rivals to win unchallenged by 2 1/2 lengths.

Ampere is the fifth foal and fourth winner of the Grade 1 winner Amorama. A winner at two in France, Amorama won two Grade 1’s over 9 furlongs at three and four, beating among others top racemares like Intercontinental, Ticker Tape and Island Fashion. Amorama retired the winner of 5 races, and 9 places from 28 lifetime starts for earnings of $795.000. She has a yearing colt by Lawman, is in foal to Dabirsim and will be rested in 2015. Amorama’s second dam was a full sister to the great racemare Triptych, and this is also the family of the champions Treve and Trillion.

Ampere is entered in the Prix du Jockey-Club and Grand Prix de Paris.
