BUGIE D’AMORE RETURNS
Bugie d’Amore made her first start in the colours of the Haras de Saint Pair, and her first for eight months, in last Sunday’s Group 2 Prix de Sandringham at Chantilly. The daughter of Rail Link was drawn wide and came slowly out of the stalls, leaving her within 100 metres trailing lengths behind the leaders Laugh Out Loud and Mashoora, who were to finish first and second.
Bugie d’Amore made ground to draw alongside the leading group as the field turned into the straight and looked likely, for an instant, to finish second, even if the leader Laugh Out Loud was still travelling like a winner at this point. However, having ranged alongside Mashoora, Bugie d’Amore was unable to sustain her run right to the line and was caught in the final strides by Rock Me Baby and beaten a neck for third place. This was a very encouraging reappearance and first start for her new trainer Alin de Royer Dupre, to finish fourth in a Group 2 against fillies with high class performances to their name this year on her first start for eight months promises a great deal for the future.
Bugie d’Amore was trained by Bruno Grizzetti as a two year old and won four of her eight starts including the Group 3 Premio Dormello in which she beat this year’s dual Classic winner Cherry Collect.
