ETERNAL PEARL SECOND IN GOODWOOD LISTED
Godolphin’s Eternal Pearl, a three year old daughter of Frankel and Pearly Steph, finished a close second in the Listed Height of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood on her only her second career start on May 20th. The Charlie Appleby trained filly was stepping up to 2000 metres after finishing fourth on her debut at a mile and was also running on soft ground for the first time. Held up in last place by William Buick she made ground in the straight hitting the front together with Sea Silk Road and the pair raced to the line together. Sea Silk Road, a William Haggas trained daughter of Sea The Stars, was 1/2 length in front at the line and they had come 3 3/4 lengths away from the remainder.
Eternal Pearl was sold by the Haras de Saint Pair at the Tattersalls October 1 yearling sale. She is the third foal of Pearly Steph, a Listed winner by Oasis Dream, who is also dam of True Courage, the winner of three races at three in England in 2021, and a colt foal by Belardo. She is currently in foal to No Nay Never. Pearly Steph won the Listed Prix de Lilas over a mile at Longchamp and is a half sister to the multiple Group winning mare Pearls Galore, due to run in the Group 2 Lanwades Stud Stakes at The Curragh on Sunday May 22nd and to the German Group 3 winner Lucky Lycra. Her dam Pearl Banks, also a Group 3 winner in Germany, is a daughter of Saint Pair’s foundation mare the Prix Vermeille winner Pearly Shells.
