SEASONAL DEBUTS

Faithfilly

The Haras de Saint Pair’s Pearly Avenue, a three year old daughter of Anabaa and Pearly Shells was third on her career debut at Bordeaux on May 13. The Francois Rohaut trained filly was given time in the race to find her feet and was well behind the leaders as the field turned into the home straight. However, once in the straight Pearly Avenue stayed on well to take third place in the 9 1/2 furlong Prix du Bassin d’Arcachon,  won by Amajiro a Dalakhani colt belonging to the Marquessa de Moratalla.

The same day the three year old filly Faithfilly made her debut in the colours of the Haras de Saint Pair in the 5 1/2 furlong Listed Prix Texanita at Maisons Laffitte. Faithfilly had won the Listed Prix de la Vallee d’Auge at Deauville last August but had disappointed on her subsequent starts. The daughter of Red Clubs showed a great deal more on her first start for Rohaut as although she never quite managed to get on terms with Mazameer, who led from start to finish, Faithfully finished strongly in fourth place,  beaten only a neck, a short head and a neck. Mazameer was a Group winner at two and the first three had all run before this season.

Faithfilly is a half sister to Lisa’s Strong, who was stakes placed over ten furlongs in Italy, and her second dam Red Comes Up is a full sister to Rainbow Quest. Red Clubs produced only two crops which are for the time being headed by this year’s 1,000 Guineas winner Sky Lantern, and Vedelago the winner of a Group 1 over ten furlongs on May 12 in Rome.
