AOMORI CITY WINS G2 VINTAGE STAKES AT GOODWOOD

Godolphin’s Aomori City, trained by Charie Appleby was an impressive 1 3/4 length inner of the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood on July 30th. The son of Oasis Dream was held up behind the leaders and was forced to loose his place on the home bend when those on the outside came back towards the rail, however, under a patient ride from William Buick the colt was able to quicken clear and win comfortably in the end. The final time of 1 minute 25.13 seconds is the fastest Vintage Stakes this Century.

Aomori City was bred in partnership by the Haras de Saint Pair and Mme Elizabeth Fabre’s Ecurie Peregrine and sold at the Arqana August sale to Stroud Coleman Bloodstock. Sadly Setsuko was injured in training and was unable to race and produced only two foals. She was a half sister to the Group winner Soleil Marin.
