TWO YEAR OLD WINNERS OUT OF SAINT PAIR BRED MARES
Two two year olds out of Saint Pair bred and sold mares won in Britain this week. On November 17th Indalo, a cot by Phoenix of Spain out of Pearly Empress won on his debut at Newcastle for Varian Racing and trainer Roger Varian. Pearly Empress is an unraced Holy Roman Emperor mare out of the Saint Pair foundation mare Pearly Shells who was sold at the Arqana December sale for 50.000€. Pearly Shells won the Prix Vermeille in 2002 and her descendants also include Group 1 winner Pearls Galore, Group winners Pearl Banks, Lucky Lycra, Peligrina.
Four days later the Frankel filly Strutting broke her maiden on her third start at Wolverhampton for trainers John and Thady Gosden in the colours of Zhang Yuesheng. She is a daughter of Via Lazio, an unraced daughter of Lawman from the family of Japanese Champion Admire Mars as well as the Group 1 performer Via Ravenna and many other useful Saint Pair breds descended from the Group winner Via Milano. Via Lazio was sold at the Arqana December sale for 60.000€.
