VIA RAVENNA MAKES WINNING DEBUT IN CHANTILLY
Via Ravenna made a winning deubt at Chantilly on March 2nd, coming from behind the win the 1600 metres Prix de la Haute Taille by a comfortable neck. The three year old Raven’s Pass filly is trained by Andre Fabre for the Haras de Saint Pair and was ridden by Vincent Cheminaud. After missing the break Via Ravenna was forced to come from a long way off the pace in a slowly run race but she made her ground on the bridle in the straight and won without being fully extended from Bijin and Midnight Watch,
who had been placed in maidens in Deauville and Cagnes sur Mer on their previous starts.
Via Ravenna is the seventh winner from nine foals of racing age produced by her dam Via Milano whose earlier foals include the Group winner Via Medici and the Group/stakes performers Via Manzoni and Fifth Commandment. Via Milano is in foal to Lope de Vega and is due to visit Le Havre in 2017, her unraced two year old Mastercraftsman colt Mister President is in training with Jean Claude Rouget.
