AKELA IS STAKES PLACED
Akela became the lastest stakes performer out of a mare sold by the Haras de Saint Pair when finishing third, 1 1/2 lengths and a neck behind the winner Phoceene, in the Listed Prix Rose de Mai at Saint Cloud on March 10th. Comte Reginald von Norman’s three year old Authorized filly had won her only previous start at Fontainebleau last November. In a race run at a good pace on very soft ground the Henri Francois Devin trained filly came with a late run and was never closer than at the line.
Akela is the first foal of the Elusive Quality mare A Moi who ran in the colours of Saint Pair before being sold to Wilhelm Feldmann for 39.000 euros at the 2013 Arqana February sale. She is a half sister to Ampere, a Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed in Saint Pair’s colours, and a daughter of the Grade 1 winner Amorama. Saint Pair retained Amorine, a Montjeu half sister to A Moi, whose first foal is a yearling Kendargent filly. A Moi has a two year old Australia filly called Aussie Girl who is in training in Germany.
