ETERNAL PEARL BREAKS MAIDEN WITH EASE
Godolphin’s three year old filly Eternal Pearl broke her maiden on her fourth career start racing right away from her eleven rivals to win over 2400 metres at Kempton on June 29th by 7 1/2 lengths despite being eased right down in the closing stages by jockey William Buick. A promising fourth on her debut over a mile Eternal Pearl was second to Sea Silk Road in a stakes race over 2000 before looking unlucky when first first tried over this trip and finishing only third at Newbury on her previous start. The Charlie Appleby trained Frankel filly made no mistake this time taking over at the top of the straight and proving to be in a different class to her rivals.
Eternal Pearl is the third foal and second winner produced by her dam the Oasis Dream mare Pearly Steph who was herself a Listed winner over 1600 for Saint Pair and trainer Freddy Head. She has a colt foal by Belardo and is in foal to No NayNever. Pearly Steph is a half sister to Saint Pair’s multiple Group winning mare Pearls Galore and they are both grand daughters of the Saint Pair foundation mare the Prix Vermeille winner Pearly Shells.
