ETERNAL PEARL LOOKS LIKE TOP PROSPECT AT NEWMARKET
Godolphin’s three year old Frankel filly Eternal Pearl looked like a prospect for top races when beating her elders Rose of Kildare and Viola to win a Listed over 2400 metres at Newmarket on July 16th. The Charlie Appleby trained filly had broken her maiden on her previous start when winning by 7 1/2 lengths eased down at Kempton after finishing second in a Listed race at Goodwood on very soft ground earlier in the year. The Saint Pair bred filly looked at ease on the firm ground at Newmarket and after being caught between rivals for a moment when the field came together with a furlong and a half to run she quickened impressively to catch the dual Group winning five year old mare Rose of Kildare to win by 3/4 length with the Group placed filly Viola a further 4 3/4 lengths away in third.
Eternal Pearl was sold to Stroud Coleman Bloodstock acting for Godolphin as a yearling at Tattersalls October 1 sale for 700.000 guineas. Pearly Steph was a Listed winner in France at a mile and Eternal Pearl is her third foal and second winner. She has a Belardo colt foal and is in foal to No Nay Never. She is a half sister to the multiple Group winning Pearls Galore and Group winner Lucky Lycra. Her third dam Pearly Shells (photo in 2016) is one of Saint Pair’s foundation mares and the winner of the Group 1 Prix Vermeille.
