GLAER WINS FIRST HANDICAP ON THE BRIDLE

The Haras de Saint Pair’s Glaer, a four year old Siyouni gelding trained by Jean Claude Rouget, won his first handicap over 2000 metres on Pau’s all weather track without coming off the bridle on December 14th. Held up in last place by Jean Bernard Eyquem Glaer passed all of his rivals in the short straight with the greatest of ease to win on the bridle. Glaer now has four wins from his seven career starts and has won his last three races. This was his first run on the all weather since making his debut at two in Newcastle for trainer John Gosden and his first run in a handicap. He will try to continue his winning sequence at Cagnes sur Mer in early 2022.

Glaer is a half brother to Glycon, a multiple Group winner who was Group 1 place on his latest start in the Prix Royal Oak and is the fifth winner from five foals of racing age produced by his dam Glorious Sight. She has a yearling filly by Siyouni and a filly foal by Le Havre and is due to go to Wootton Bassett in 2022. Saint Pair has retained two daughters of Glorious Sight as mares so far, Glad Eye and Girl Friday.

Glaer’s win was the 22 by a Saint Pair in France in 2021. In total 24 Saint Pair breds have run in France winning 22 races and 52 places for earnings of more than a million euros. These included the Group/Listed performers Glycon, Pearls Galore, Valoria, Smile Makers, Integrant and Waldbiene as well as the promising two year old winners Green Fly and Sicilian Defense.
