PEARLS CONFIRMS
The Haras de Saint Pair’s Pearls Or Passion, a three year old daughter of Monsun and the Group 1 winner Pearly Shells was second in the Prix des Arvernes in Vichy on July 15. This was no ordinary race as the field of seven included several promising, lightly raced, and well bred three year olds.
Pearls Or Passion made a lot of running and was only passed close home and beaten 3/4 length by the Montjeu colt Only A Pleasure, with the hot favourite Lago Minto 1/2 length behind her in third. The first two are both daughters of Group 1 winners as Only A Pleasure is out of the Matron Stakes winner Sense of Style, the third, Lago MInto, and the fifth, Temple Bar, are both out of Group winners, while the fourth, Shutterfly was a 370,000 euro yearling. The winner has won two of his three starts to date and so this was another promising performance from Pearls Or Passion, whose career record is now three starts for a win and two second places.
