MONSUN AGAIN
The Haras de Saint Pair has been a big believer in Monsun during recent years and the three year old filly Pearls Or Passion is one of ten of the progeny of Gestut Schlenderhan’s sire it has bought or bred. Saint Pair has an older daughter in Monblue, Pearls Or Passion and then it bred three two year olds, four yearlings and a foal.
This year’s three year olds were bred when Monsun was covering at 150,000 euros, and his most expensive crop has confirmed his position at the top of Europe”s stallion elite. Up to July 15th Monsun had had 11 black type winners in Europe of 14 black type races, in number of wins this put him behind only Galileo who had 17 black type winners from 203 runners, compared with Monsun who had 14 from only 90 runners.
During the second week in July Monsun’s four year old son Fiorente won the Group 2 1 1/2 mile Princess of Wales’s Stakes at Newmarket, and then on July 15 Monsun had his eigth three year old black type winner when Schlenderhan’s filly Imagery was an impressive winner of a Listed over ten furlongs in Hanover. Other three year olds by Monsun to impress included Last Born, a half sister to Melbourne Cup winner American who was an impressive winner in Vichy and another filly Monshak, a winner at Chester and now winner of two or her three starts for Nurlan Bizakov and Sir Michael Stoute, as well as Pearls Or Passion second in a strong race at Vichy.
