PEARLS GALORE TAKES GROUP 2 AT THE CURRAGH

The Haras de Saint Pair’s Pearls Galore came with her usual late run to score a narrow but decisive victory in the Group 2 Lanwades Stud Stakes at The Curragh over a mile on May 22nd. Since moving to the Tipperary stable of Paddy Twomey as a three year old,  the daughter of Invincible Spirit now has five wins including a Group 2 and two Group 3’s, and four places, two in Group 1 races, from 11 starts for earnings of £264.000. Pearls Galore is likely to compete in Group 1 races in the future with obvious options available in England, France, Ireland and the United States over the remainder of the season.

She is the fifth foal and third black type winner produced by her dam the Pivotal mare Pearls Banks following the Listed winner Pearly Steph and the Group 3 winner Lucky Lycra. Pearl Banks has a filly foal by Kingman and is currently in foal to Galiway. Pearly Steph’s three year old Frankel filly Eternal Pearl was second in the Listed Height of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood this week. Pearly Steph has a colt foal by Belardo and is in foal to No Nay Never. Pearls Galore’s second dam Pearly Shells won the Group 1 Prix Vermeille in 2002.
