SMILE MAKERS BREAKS HIS MAIDEN WITH EASE

The Haras de la Gousserie’s Smile Makers broke his maiden with ease over 2000 metres at Marseilles on March 8th. Held up behind the leaders the three year old son of Kendargent quickened in the straight to win unchallenged by 2 1/2 lengths. The Frederic Rossi trained colt now has 1 win and 4 places from five starts and including a second place in a Listed race at two. He was sold as a yearling at Osarus for €80.000.

Smile Makers is the 8th winner from the first ten foals of the Group 1 Prix Vermeille winner Pearly Shells, her last foal is a 2020 Anodin colt and she is now enjoying her retirement at Saint Pair. Pearly Shells has produced the Group winner Pearl Banks, the stakes winner Pearls or Passion and the stakes placed Pearly Avenue and Smile Makers. She is the second dam of the Group winners Lucky Lycra and Pelligrina as well as Pearly Steph, Pearls Galore, Podemos and the unbeaten Japanese trained three year old Moon Tears.
