TROARN IMPRESSES AT LA TESTE

Troarn, a three year old full sister to the champion Almanzor, broke her maiden in a brilliant style at La Teste on April 28th. Owned by Gerard Augustin Normand and trained by Jean Claude Rouget Troarn had made a promising debut at Chantilly in early April but looked a different proposition on her second start. Always travelling easily she was far better than her ten rivals and won the 1600 maiden race very easily by 2 lengths.

Troarn is one of only 12 three year olds by her sire Wootton Basset in training in France and no fewer than five of these Troizilet, Troarn, L’Idealiste, Denitza and Castle Dream had all won before the enf of April. Troarn looks a like a future Group or Listed filly and the others have all shown themselves capable of competing successfully at the Paris tracks.

The Haras de Saint Pair is a shareholder in Wootton Bassett, who stands for 20.000 euros at the Haras d’Etreham. The stud also owns the mare Dardiza, a half sister to Darkova the dam of Almanzor and Troarn, who had a Wootton Basset colt foal in 2017.
