A FUTURE STAR?
PEARLS OR PASSION finished second in the Listed Prix Joubert over 2400 metres at Saint Clolud on September 17. The three year old daughter of Monsun and the champion Pearly Shells was drawn on the outside and was forced to race wide throughout the race. However she quickened on the home turn to take up a prominent position and stayed on well to the line to be beaten only 1/2 length by Piracicaba.
The Haras de Saint Pair’s filly broke her maiden at Le Teste in June and has been placed second on her other three starts. On this showing she is looks likely to compete successfully in Group races in the future.
She is the fifth winner from the first five foals of the Prix Vermeille winner Pearly Shells and the second black type performer after the Group winner Pearl Banks. Pearly Shells has a two year old filly by Anabaa caled Pearl Avenue, who is like Pearls Or Passion in training witrh Francois Rohaut, and a yearling colt by Oasis Dream. Pearl Banks has a filly foal by Oasis Dream and is in foal to Oasis Dream.
