GUILDSMAN THIRD IN THE COVENTRY

Qatar Racing’s Guildsman finished a close up third in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 18th, only eleven days after making a winning debut at Goodwood. The son of Wootton Bassett quickened from behind to take the lead for a brief moment before being passed in the final stages by the winner Arizona. Jockey Oisin Murphy was not hard on Guildsman in the final yards and he finished third beaten 1/2 length and a head for second place.

Guildsman was bred by the Haras de Saint Pair and is the first foal of his dam Dardiza. Sold as a yearling at the 2018 Arqana October sale for 67.000 euros he was resold by Roger Marley’ Church Farm for 125.000 euros at the Arqana Breeze Up to David Redvers. Dardiza has a yearling filly by Siyouni who is going to the Arqana August sale and she is back in foal to Zoustar.
