VIA PISE MAKES PROMISING DEBUT
The Haras de Saint Pair’s Via Pisa finished a promising fourth on her debut over 1600 metres at Saint Cloud on March 19th. Always close to the lead she quickened well at the top of the home straight and was only passed in the final 200 metres. The Freddy Head trained daughter of Pivotal was beaten less than 1 1/2 lengths in total by the winner Val d’Hiver.
Via Pisa is the first foal of Via Medici, a Group 3 winner in the colours of Saint Pair in 2010. Via Medici has a two-year-old Dansili filly Via Firenze who was sold as a yearling in Baden Baden and is in training in Chantilly with Pia Brandt and a yearling Lawman filly. She was sold by Saint Pair for 480.000 euros in Deauville in December 2014 to Narvick International acting for Katsumi Yoshida in foal to Dansili.
Saint Pair has retained several fillies and mares from this family aside from Via Pisa and her yearling half sister. The stud also has Via Pisa’s second dam Via Milano and her three-year-old Monsun filly Via Manzoni, a dual winner as a two-year-old, as well as her yearling filly by Raven’s Pass.
