VIA RAVENNA WINS HER FIRST GROUP

The Haras de Saint Pair’s Via Ravenna became a Group winner on only her second start with a comfortable 1 length victory in the 1400 metre Group 3 Prix Imprudence at Maisons-Laffitte on April 10th. The daughter of Raven’s Pass was held up at the rear of the field by jockey Vincent Cheminaud and passed all of her rivals in the final 400 metres without having to be asked a serious question. She held to win by a length and 1 1/2 lengths from Thais and Silver Storm.

The Andre Fabre trained filly had made a winning career debut at Chantilly over 1600 at the beginning of March and so retained her unbeaten record. She is entered in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches to be run in Deauville on May 13th, a race in which her dam Via Milano finished fourth, beaten less than 4 lengths, in 2004.
