WINNING DEBUT FOR VIA MEDICI’S SON

Admire Mars, a two year colt by Daiwa Major out of Via Medici made a winning debut over 1600 on turf at Chukyo on Saturday June 30. Owned by Riichi Kondo, trained by Yasuo Tomomichi and ridden by Micro Demuro Admire Mars was sold as a yearling at the 2017 JRHA sale for 56.160.000 yen (435.000 euros). Always close to the leaders Admire Mars took over in front at the top of the straight and just managed to hold the sustained challenge of Cadence Call for a narrow debut victory.

Admire Mars is the fifth foal and four winner produced by Via Medici who was sold by the Haras de Saint Pair to Northern Farm for 480.000 euros at the 2014 Deauville December sale. Via Medici first two foals were both stakes winners and Group placed, Via Pisa retained by Saint Pair and Via Firenze,  and since going to Japan she has produced the multiple winner Freccia, a three year old Dansili colt and Admire Mars.

Saint Pair has retained Via Medici’s dam Via Milano, her half sister by Monsun, Via Manzoni as well as her daughter Via Pisa. Via Milano has a yearling colt by Lope de Vega and Via Manzoni has a yearling filly by Lope de Vega.
